#55 - Write about where you went in and around your home or neighborhood to be alone. Why did you choose that spot, and what did you do there? |
I touched on this yesterday - paying tribute to those I've lost. I was drawn to public memorials. For a long time in my life, I was severely depressed. I needed to find meaning and quiet to settle my own grief - dark grief that was invisible to others in my life.
Sometimes I cried. It was an outlet, one that became healthy because I turned that process into a workout routine. I used to walk my dog to these places. Then I slowly built up the confidence and ability to undergo self improvement. I started training to run. I would run to these places. It pulled me out of depression.
It wasn't just depression but also burnout, emotional overload. Deciding to engage in additional work and exercise seemed impossible and even counterproductive but it actually helped me break through pain depressive cycles.
I was very fortunate to be able to access such well kept parks and memorials.
