#90 - What college did you go to, and why did you choose it? If you didn't go to college, talk about why you didn't and what your goals were as moved toward adulthood.

I feel like I covered this one already. Poverty, I didn't have a choice. My life was survival based and if I wanted college, I had to pay for it. My first job was in sales. I was the type of person who wanted out and to not repeat cycles that seemed to destroy the lives of everyone I cared about at some point. I can fully admit I did not respect my parents and their career/life choices when I was younger. However their influences greatly shaped me. They were quite good at managing minimal resources and balancing time as they scraped by as responsible people working in janitorial and fast food positions. Those skills gave me an advantage in life. Far more than what could be learned in business school - which is a path I started to go down before the kids were born.

I learned through life experiences and I've been exposed to the extreme. In a way, it's a curse because most things bore me now and I have an intense career path. I didn't quite know what I wanted for my future other than it needed to incorporate my children because adult disability shelters are being defunded and closed. Right now they're still in high school. I have time to prepare.

Most days it's unbelievably stressful to be on those front lines as a caregiver, living under these pressures. However I'm learning every day new techniques and I work with an extraordinary team of people. Trying to fit in additional college? Feels impossible most days but I'll get there.

Having the hypertensive crisis forced me to address physical health first - which was a blessing. It's been almost 6 months. I'm still alive and feel incredible.

Today I ran.  I've been on a training program for a 5k. It's scheduled on July 13th.

Unfortunately the trail was covered with debris so I couldn't do my usual loop of the lake. I'm also proud of myself because I was tempted to climb/crawl through it anyway but that tree branch was still hanging/swaying and what you cannot see in that photo is the large amount of water rushing over what used to be a dry rock wall foot bridge. Plus it was windy.
